KKR Enters Race for Sanju Samson in IPL 2026 Trade Window

KKR joins Samson trade race

The IPL season has recently ended, and fans in India are buzzing with transfer rumors involving star players. One of the cricketers whose name is being mentioned more frequently is star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson. He played for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) last season and was the team captain. Several franchises are now showing interest in the player. According to rumors, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is the most active, but another serious contender for Sanju’s services has emerged in recent days.

Interest from KKR

This week, a scout from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hinted that his franchise is also showing strong interest in Samson. This makes sense, given that the recent IPL season was unsuccessful for the team. Its overseas wicketkeepers performed below their usual standards, which resulted in KKR failing to make the playoffs, despite having won the championship the previous year. Experts believe that the franchise’s interest in Sanju is linked to both his consistent batting and his undoubted leadership qualities.

Rajasthan’s deliberation

The RR has acknowledged multiple trade offers for Samson and other crucial cricketers in their roster. The squad is still deliberating its next steps. In a recent meeting in London, the Royals’ management convened to evaluate their current roster and plan their trading strategy. The decision on Sanju’s future is expected to be made by RR’s lead owner, Manoj Badale.
