West Indies Grants NOC for IPL 2025 Participation Amid International Fixtures

West Indies players cleared for IPL 2025

On May 9, the 18th season of IPL was temporarily stopped. The reason, as fans are well aware, was the military conflict on the border between India and Pakistan. The good news is that on Saturday, May 17, the tournament will be resumed. The 12 remaining group stage matches are scheduled to be played, and the May 8 game between PBKS and KKR, which was halted due to lighting problems, will also be played. Four playoff matches will follow the group stage.

New Rule

The BCCI, responding to the unusual circumstances of the season resumption, has announced a new rule. Till the end of the tournament, IPL franchises are allowed to sign cricketers to replace foreign players who, for security reasons, fear returning to their teams’ squads. At the same time, such cricketers will be unable to stay with their franchises at the end of the season and will be forced to go to auction.

West Indian players will play

As it became known on May 14, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has decided to allow its players to resume playing in the IPL. Crucially, this was announced against the backdrop of the Caribbean side gearing up for internationals. CWI’s decision is crucial for GT and RCB, whose rosters are missing several key performers. The teams currently occupy first and second place in the IPL 2025 table, respectively, and have a strong chance of making the playoffs. Both teams have 16 points from 11 matches and are five points off the fifth spot.
